In hiding pt. 12

         It was getting tough. We were able to get some food from Eric's friend but that is almost gone. The bombing has gotten worse and worst of all they found our bunker. I was on night watch and say a light, we got every one out but had to leave. We ran for about 2 miles before we made a very hard decision to split up. Trace took Riley, Nels and Thea and Eric and I took Kori and Juli. Trace took his group toward the city but we took our group up a steep mountain going towards a thick forest. 

          It is hard knowing that Trace, Riley, Nels, and Thea are out there and we don't know if they are captured or not. After we made it up the mountain, I looked for a few minutes to see of they saw us go up the hill and they did. So we started running again in a slightly different course and changed directions many times. Any time we say a cave of some kind we threw a jacket or a sweater in to try and through them of the trail. 

         Finally after about 2 hours of running and walking, we found a place deep in the woods on a hill where we could see if they came after us. It was summer so we didn't have to worry about betting cold, Eric and I took turns keeping watch that night. During the next day we were getting fire wood when we heard beautiful trumpet music and saw a bright light spreading across the whole sky. Then we saw a cloud in the shape of an aplithiater with angels all around the cloud playing trumpets or singing. The four of us were speechless at the beautiful music and then we saw Jesus in the middle of all the angels sitting on His magnificent thrown. And now that I have reflected my past struggles for you it is time for me to leave my mansion in heaven and go enjoy being in God's presence.

In hiding pt. 11

        It has been several days and we are getting some adjustments with the extra people but we are getting along. Our food is almost gone, with the extra people it has been going fast. We aren't sure what we will do next. Eric knows some of the people in the city who own a small garden and we aren't sure if they will help us. It is a big risk to contact people outside our family and close friends. Eric and I volunteered to go and see if they will help us tomorrow.
      We finally finished the second entrance and got the supports up. Eric's dad worked a lot with building things and Eric learned from him so Eric was able to make both doors harder to see which will hopefully keep us more secure. It is hard to be inside all day so we are letting people go out in pairs of two and get some fresh air and use up some energy. I am on night watch tonight and it looks like everyone is here so I am going to have to stop writing, I will write as soon as I get the chance.

In Hiding pt. 10

We had just gotten word that some of my old class mates are in the city. I had volunteered to go and get them out of the city. So I wet at about 1am and got to the block were they had all be located and say that the police were about to break into the first house. This scared me at first but then realized that they didm;t know exactly what house they were in. I ran to the first one where Nels and Zach were hiding (two of my class mates). I told them about the police and offered to take them to the hide out. Nels said he could not leave his sister in the jail, so I told him if he came with me we would try and get her out. Zach had many friends at a different block so he said he would go and hide with them. So Nels and I ran to the next house which is where two of my other class mass were hiding Julianne & Nathan. Juli agreed to come but Nathan had a brother in a different house and was very ill. So nathan went to his brothers house and Juli, Nels and I went outside the city limits, I told Juli to wait for us while Nels and I went to the jail and were able to get Thea out (If you remember, all of the guards had abandoned the prison after the bombing started). We met back up with Juli and I led them to the bunker. Non of the cusins got much sleep that night waiting for us to arrive. When we got there and after everyone was aquatinted with our limitations and guidelines we all sat in a circle and asked Nels, Thea, and Juli many question about the city and how bad things had gotten. They told us about all of the matial laws that had but such restrictions on anyone who did not get a chip in their arm (the chip is the governments way of allowing people to buy food, travel, and do pretty much anything). They told us about the risk that the people took when they hid them. Of course we already knew about the Sunday law and the ban on Bibles. We were all filled with great joy when we say that both Nels and Juli were able to grab a Bible they had hidden away. We had had to leave our bibles in the cave when most of our family was captured. Now that we have more people, we had to do some rearranging. The girls Kori, Juli, and Thea got the loft and we had found some pads in a closet so the guys slept on those. So here we are, the eight of us hiding in a abandoned bomb shelter waiting for our Lord and savior to rescue us from this nightmare. We pray every night that God will protect us and those who are less fortunate and we know He will if we follow Him.

In hiding pt. 9

Today was a very frustrating day in our bunker. A huge thunder storm came through last night and through the morning. Our bunker stayed pretty dry but we hadn't put up the support for the second entrance and it caved in. So now we will have to redo all of the digging we had done. A few tree's have been knocked down but the tree that the secret door is by is still fine. WE are going to be able to use some of the branches that were broken off as brush to cover our second entrance, after we finally get it dugout. The roof of our bunker is cement so the water didm;t drip down but part of our fire wood stack got wet and so we had to burn a smaller fire which meant only a little light. We did find a closet that had tools like shovels, rakes, & multiple brooms. So today since we had nothing els to do we got the brooms and swept every inch of the bunker at least 3 times. There is an emergency radio in here to but many of the channels are not working. There is only one channel we can receive that has news on it and only at 9am and 8pm. So now we are getting ready for bed and the storm seems to be dying down.

In Hiding pt. 8

It is about 10:30 and Trace still hasn't left. I am still sure that he is going to go but it is a wait that seems to take forever. We are just out side the city and an air raid is starting, but Trace is determined. We are going to make a bolt for the jail and try and find a way to get Riley out. It took us a few minutes to find the keys for his cell but we finally got him out. As we were running through the woods back toward our camp we heard quiet voices outside of the cave. We dropped down and looked, there were soldiers getting ready to through tear bass into the cave. Riley shouted a warning to the family and Trace and I ran out to try and distract the guards. The gas was thrown but 2 of my cousins made it out and we ran but the rest of the group was taken. Luckily Eric (on of the cousins who made it out) had grabbed our hatchet so that we could get some fire wood to stay warm. Our new place is smaller but that is ok since there are only 5 of us now. It is a small hole dug in the ground with rugs as the floor and wood planks for walls. There is a loft in the corner for sleeping and there is ever a small kitchen with a wood stove, and a lot of canned food. We think it is an abandoned bomb shelter. So our new spot has quite a few advantages to our old one but the first thing we are going to do is to dig a second door way and try and camouflage the door better just incase we have  any more unwanted visitors.

In HIding pt. 7

There was a 'intense discussion' today between the adults and Trace and I. We want to go and get Riley out of the jail. The militaries are bombing the city so all of the police have left but the prisoners are still there. The adults don't want us to go because it is dangerous but we didn't change our opinions. We said "ok" and left, but as dark is approaching I fell that Trace is going to go anyways and I plan to accompany him.

In Hiding pt. 6

Megan, one of my cousins hiding with us is very sick. There was a piece of metal that cut her foot and it is getting bad. We need to get her a shot but we don't have any. We have four doctors in our family and three of the mare with us and they are doing everything they can to help her. Tomorrow Trace (another cousin in hiding with us) and I are going to go into town and try and get the shot she needs. We are on a clock so we will need to hurry. If we don't get the shot soon the infection will spread to an uncontrollable point. everyone is praying and trace and I are too. I just heard the adults saying that Trace and I could leave tonight and sleep somewhere along the way if we felt up to it. So it looks like I need to go. I will try and write later, if I don't get caught.

Reading Diary of Ann Frank

Today I read for 15 min out of a book called Diary of Ann Frank. This is about a girl in the Holocaust who went into hiding with her family to escape from the germans. She wrote in her journal frequently and it was published as this book. What I read today is about how she is struggling with her family. Her sister is the favorite of the parents and Ann gets blamed for many things. She is having severe problems with her mom. Her mom and her are very different and they clash a lot. They just brought a friend into hiding with them. They got his stuff in with him and it leaves us all to wonder if he is going to cause extra problems for the Frank family.

I just finished reading another 15 min segment of the book Diary of Ann Frank. The new man hiding with them is hard on Ann. If she does something wrong he giver her a long lecture and tells Ann's mom and she giver her an even worse then Mrs. Van (the wife of the man who is helping the Franks hid) giver her another lecture. It is a long process and it really ticks Ann off. She is feeling very different then everyone els in the home. The only one she has been able to successfully connect with is her Diary.

In Hiding pt. 5

The world is getting very bad. No matter where you look it is all total mayhem. Yesterday was a very tough day. Some times it takes so long for things to really sink in and to grasp what is happening. Most of my friends are gone and only some of my family is here. All of our technology is gone, no contact to the outside world without venturing out into the city. I was very discouraged yesterday. It got really bad and my family and cousins did as well as they could to cheer me up but it didn't work. I went for a walk in the woods and had a two hour talk with God. And somehow I was able to get all the comforting I needed. It was a great experience for me especially at this time. Some of my cousins are over there and they look like they could use some encouragement. I'll try and write again soon.

In HIdding pt. 4

So after a few days we were able to get with some of the family in the church. The first few days in hiding weren't so bad. There was so much going on that there wasn't much time to think about what was left behind but after days in the church with nothing to do i'm starting to think about home. I miss the family room. We would all have so much fun there playing games and having worship. I just feel upset that we had to leave all of that behind. We need more fire wood and it is my turn to get it so I will have to leave now.

In hidding pt. 2

One of the gangs found our cave and we had to run. They chased us and kept calling us blithely. I am still upset but and trying to forget it. We had been going through the woods for days but finally found a place we could stay for a few days. My brother had gone into town to get some food just yesterday but he was found. They took him to the jail. I wish we could try to go and get him out but Mom says that it would be to dangerous. So now it looks like me might have to leave this place. Because we do not know if the police will try and get our location from him. Dad is just getting back with some fire wood now. He says that my grandpa got some of the family together and found a cave back further in the woods. So it looks like that is where we are headed now. I will try and write again soon but it looks like I will be busy for a few days.

In Hiding pt. 3

Yesterday we were running in the woods behind our school. Someone found out our old hiding spot so we had to move. We went up into the woods and went up the mountain. After a few hours of hunting we found a cave. It was late so I wasn't able to write then. Nothing happened today so far but we are getting ready to go out and find some fire wood. I will have to leave now but I will try to write tomorrow.

Going into hiding

In the end times, true seventh-day adventists will have to go hid in the mountains. I am going to write about if that happened today and what I would have to do differently.


            The catholic church will make a plea to all nations to become part of the church. Anyone who refuses to become part of the church will be hunted and many will be killed. I will have to leave my home and run to the mountains. All electronics will have to be thrown out. I will only be able to take what I can carry and only if it is necessary. The only thing that will keep us alive during that time is our love for Jesus and that after that time we will be with Him.

The Holocaust

It is when millions of jews were killed in World War II. I heard about this from being in Geography class, watching freedom writers, and just hearing my friends talking. I don't know a lot about the holocaust so i would like to learn more of the basics before we get into the complicated things.

Freedom Writers

This movie is about a teacher who teaches at a school where most of the students are gang members and want nothing to do with school. It tells how she changed them and how they got through many problems they faced. It really inspired me that one person made such a big difference in over 30 students lives. The principle at the school was very opposed to all the changes Errin (the teacher) tried to make. The principle was an obstacle that they had to pass but it brought them together in more ways than one. The students weren't just in one gang many of them were in many different gangs and didn't get along at all. But Errin got passed that wall and brought them into what she called a family.

My charity water project

For a few days now, Anthony and I have been working on a project to gather money to get clean water for a community in Africa. We chose 3 places where people go to almost daily and put posters with links to our charity water account and a box for donations. It only takes $30 to get enough money to buy clean water for a community. We hope to get enough for 2 or 3 communities. This is a small thing we can do to help people with unclean water. Why writing is important.

It forces you to think. When you to think about the topic you are writing on. If you have been writing about water for the past few weeks like I have, you will find yourself thinking about the water situation throughout the day.
You take on a different viewpoint. While I have been writing about water, I have been looking at it from the people who live hear, who are trying to help, and I have heard from the bottled water companies. We see the problem or topic from multiple viewpoints.
You will be better at communicating verbally. When you write papers and blogs, you have practice in a way of talking to people. Even though you aren't actually there talking to them, you get practice taking to people that you may not even know.

Writing a letter

My assignment today was to write a letter to a celebrity who did a bottled water comercial. It is kind of strange writing a letter to a stranger ( although my blog is the same thing ). I had to write the celebrity and ask them why they promote bottled water. So i shared some facts ( the letter is on the previous post ). The only reason I was able to write this letter is because I knew that there was a possibility that it could make a difference.

Dear Jennifer,
I am a student at Atlanta Adventist Academy and my teacher wants me to write a celebrity who did a bottled water commercial and to try and understand why you promote bottled water over tap. We have watched many videos about how bottle water companies are practically using tap water and adding some extra flavor to it and saying it came from fresh from the mountain springs. From what we saw, the companies are taking people's water and selling it back to them in bottled water. If you have some time, I would like to hear what you have to say about this.

Bottled water

Today I watched multiple videos comparing bottled water to tap water. ( Links will be at the bottom) Bottled water advertises that their water is better, safer, and tastes better. They did a test comparing bottled water and tap water. They had cups with water in it and told people to taste it and give it a rating of bad, OK, Good, & Great. Most people said before that they disliked tap water and that bottled water was better, but when they drank it they said that the tap was better. Scientists compared the difference between tap water and bottled water, the water was identical, not similar, but identical. Most bottled water is just repruified tap water. Tap water is great for us and it is virtually free. Bottled water is not safer that tap, it is expensive, tap water is better or equal in every way.

Charity Water

How would your life be different if you were born in a developing country in Africa? This is a difficult question. it is always easy to say that i could do ok in a different environment but after you get there you realize that is is harder than you thought.
What is your responsibility as a Christian to people who happened to be born in an undeveloped area of the world and who don't have access to basic necessities of life? We can donate money to missions, or we can even go to be missionaries our selfs.

What are the symbols of spiritual freedom related to water? What is our role as Christians in providing for the world's needs?

             In John 4:10,13,14 Jesus told the woman at the well that He had "living water." He says that who ever drinks of His water will "never thirst again." In Revelation 21:6 it says "I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts." And in Revelation 22:1 it says "And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb." In Desire of Ages pg. 187, E.G. White says, "He in whom Christ dwells has which in himself the fountain of blessings." So water represents blessings or a "fountain of blessings." Our job as Christians is to spread the "water of life" to everyone.

What I learned about DHMO

DHMO is an abbreviation of Dihydrogen Monoxide. My class went to the DHMO.org website this morning and I really didn't know what to expect about it, I had no knowledge of DHMO. After we did some research on it we learned that it can cause many problems, a large amount of them that lead to death. We had a discussion after & people said that "it should banned" & "done away with". It seemed like it was a terrible thing. But then our teacher brought up that water is found in almost every bad thing imaginable. Tumors, cancer, & even nuclear weapons. So at this point I don't really know of it is necessarily good or bad or even what it is exactly. I expect to learn more in class, & will probably add it to this blog.
I also learned how to research different things on the internet. I learned multiple ways to test & see if a site's information is true or not. There are so many false sites out there it is important to know how to check if it is true.

Freedom Of Water

       Water is the one of the main substances that keep all living organisms alive. Everyone needs water, & some of us take it for granted. You wake up & get a drink of water. You think nothing of it. You play out side, you get tiered, you get some water without a second thought. But there are places where some people, children, wake up and are lucky if they get a drink of water before lunch. Water is precious. Whether we realize it or not. 

       Of all the water in the world, 2.5% of it is fresh water. Of that 2.5%, 68.9% is frozen in glaciers, 30.8% is under ground water, & only 0.3% is available. So pretty much, only 0.3% of the worlds water is available for drinking.

       Let's look at it differently. Your body is made up of about 50 to 60% water. So half of your body is water, would you say that it is important? Your blood is made up of 83% water. With out water your wold be a sac of bones and dried tissue. Water is important,don't take it for granted.
